The Prophet ﷺ said: "The hearts rust just as iron rusts. Their polish is the remembrance of Allah and reading the Qur’an." (Bayhaqi)

The old man wept. He returned to Allah that day.

One Friday, he entered the mosque only to escape the heat. The imam was speaking about Surah Ad-Duha: "Your Lord has not abandoned you, nor has He become hateful." (93:3)

The old man scoffed. But then the imam said: "There was a man who thought Allah forgot him. One day, he found his son's old clock. It had stopped at 2:15 PM. He wound it. It ticked once, then stopped again. He realized: That was the exact time of his son's death. And he had never prayed for him. That night, he prayed Janazah (funeral prayer) in his room. The next morning, a stranger knocked. 'Your son owed me money. But before he died, he told me: If my father ever prays again, forgive the debt.'"
