Mono Act Malayalam Script Official

Raghavan, a 60-year-old retired postman.

(Raghavan enters, limping. He taps the counter.)

(He takes out a yellowed envelope. His voice cracks.)

A dilapidated post office on a rainy night. Raghavan holds an old lantern.

In the vibrant world of Malayalam theatre, the Mono Act (ഏകാഭിനയം) holds a unique and powerful position. Unlike a full-length play with multiple characters, a mono act is a dramatic presentation performed by a single actor. However, contrary to popular belief, a mono act is not just a "one-man show" or a lengthy monologue. It is a complete dramatic arc where the single performer conveys the presence of multiple characters, shifting time, and conflicting emotions using only their voice, body language, and imagination.

Whether you are telling the story of a dying farmer or a confused college student, remember:

Whether you are a student preparing for a Kerala School Kalolsavam or a writer looking to pen your first script, understanding the anatomy of a Malayalam mono act is crucial. A standard mono act typically runs for 10 to 15 minutes . Unlike a soliloquy (where a character thinks aloud), the mono act protagonist usually interacts with invisible characters . The audience must see the other characters through the actor’s reactions.

(To invisible clerk) "എടാ മോനെ...
