Neon Genesis Evangelion -

Neon Genesis Evangelion (新世紀エヴァンゲリオン, Shin Seiki Evangerion ) is a landmark Japanese anime television series created by director Hideaki Anno and produced by studio Gainax (now Khara). It originally aired from October 1995 to March 1996. Widely considered one of the greatest and most influential anime of all time, Evangelion began as a seemingly conventional "giant robot" action show but quickly evolved into a dense, psychological deconstruction of the mecha genre, organized religion, and human relationships. Plot Overview The story is set in the year 2015, fifteen years after a global cataclysm known as the Second Impact , which melted the Antarctic ice caps, shifted the Earth's axis, and killed half the world's population. Humanity now faces a new threat: the Angels —mysterious, powerful, and often grotesque beings that descend upon the fortified city of Tokyo-3 .

The secretive paramilitary organization is tasked with destroying the Angels using massive humanoid weapons called Evangelions (Evas). However, Evas are not conventional robots; they are biomechanical clones of the Angels themselves, requiring pilots who have a unique psychological synchronization with the units.
