One Novistador lands on his back. Only its mandibles and one compound eye appear, filling the middle of the screen. “Get—off—” He taps the knife button repeatedly. The eye bursts. The bug tumbles into the darkness below.
Ashley leans into frame from the right edge — the first time a character enters from the side. “Is it over?” LEON: (small text, bottom right) “On this screen size? Yeah. For now.” The screen dims. The “MISSION COMPLETE” text scrolls vertically from bottom to top.

The Merchant’s hood fills the middle zone. His coat drapes off the bottom edge. “Stranger. In this portrait view… they’ll always come from above or below. Never the sides.” Leon scrolls a vertical inventory: Handgun, TMP, Riot Gun, Rocket Launcher (grayed out). He buys a First Aid Spray . The transaction sound chimes.
The Vertical Plaga
A Zealot grabs him from below — only a hood and yellow eyes visible at the very bottom edge. “Not today.” Quick-time event: [SHAKE PHONE] . He headbutts free. Shoots downward. The body slides off-screen.
The Merchant’s hand reaches up from the bottom edge, holding a green herb. MERCHANT: “See you in the widescreen remaster, stranger.” [END]
The 360x640 view forces Leon to look up more than sideways. Chainsaws whine somewhere above. A prompt appears: “Get—off—” He taps the knife button repeatedly
