Technical Analysis and Feasibility of a Highly Compressed PC Port of Sleeping Dogs (2012)
Sleeping Dogs (United Front Games, 2012) is an open-world action-adventure game known for its detailed depiction of Hong Kong, melee combat, and vehicle physics. While the original PC version requires approximately 20–25 GB of storage, there is niche demand among retro-gaming and low-end PC communities for a “highly compressed” version (e.g., 2–5 GB). This paper evaluates the technical compromises and methods required to achieve such compression without breaking core gameplay.
