He moves to fear (his aquaphobia, placed there by a staged "drowning" of his father). He finally arrives at rebellion (sailing into a storm that tries to kill him). When The Truman Show came out in 1998, social media didn't exist. YouTube was seven years away. Live-streaming was sci-fi.
