The floor beneath her warped. Water geysered up between the planks. The "boom" of the tom was the hull of the Andromeda finally surrendering to the deep.
She hit the floor tom.

But her latest project was different. The package arrived in a lead-lined case. Inside was a single item: a rusted 8mm film reel labeled SS Andromeda – Final Log.
She worked out of a converted lighthouse on the jagged coast of Nova Scotia, a place where the wind screamed like a fretless bass. Her specialty was memory scoring —composing soundtracks for the departed. Families would send her a box of their lost one’s belongings: a cracked watch, a love letter, a voicemail.
